Joe Shishido

Joe Shishido is a Japanese actor, who has appeared in a lot of movies, according to wikipedia about 300, including "Branded To Kill", directed by Seijun Suzuki. Shishido had his cheeks artificially enlarged, and it improved his career greatly, even though I think it makes him look like he has cotton balls stuffed in his cheeks at all times. Just trying some things out here with ink, and coloring in a slightly different way than usual, as well as trying to improve my likeness skills. Enjoy!

Garden of toonly delights

I did this for the Philly Cartoonist Society music show, and i never really showed it off. I had mixed feelings about it composition wise, color palette wise, and every other concern an illustrator can have about his own work. Something i did like was all the silly little characters and jokes inside. I was trying to riff off of THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS by Bosch, (what was i thinking?) but inject it with weird cartoon-isms and jokes. The right panel in Bosch's garden depicting hell had a lot of music related things in it, which is why i chose it for the music show. Not sure why, but i thought i would share. Enjoy!
