Crowd scene

I did this sketch while trying to come up with a poster idea for an upcoming show I will be participating in at Masthead print studio...I did not end up using these guys for the piece but I may have to color this and use it for something else.

Dashiell Hammett

This is a quick brush-pen drawing of Dashiell Hammett. He is one of my all time favorite writers, author of The Maltese Falcon and The Thin Man, a former Pinkerton Detective, who also served in both world wars if my memory serves.

Takeshi Kitano

Here is a quick Portrait of one of my favorite film directors, Takeshi Kitano. I did this with a Pentel GFKP pen, which gives me these really brushy lines. Kitano has a new movie called Outrage which competed at Cannes, I am curious if it would get a release here in the states.

The Bile Knight of the Black Landscape

"The Black Landscape is a charred and dark plane of slag, a stranger to life itself, barren and silent. Beneath the charcoal heaps of land boils primordial energy, molten life-blood of the earth itself. The ooze churns mixes and bubbles until it breaks the blackened surface and shoots upwards. A soggy lump of flesh falls upon the dead ground, and a humanoid shape shambles upward on two feet. The form is covered in boils and scars, armor is molded, bent to his misshapen core. The Black Landscape has birthed it's knight. It knows, and it chooses. Those it chooses, die."

A new character I am throwing ideas around, wrote this quick origin for him. Enjoy!

Robin Again

I find Robin a lot easier to draw than Batman. After watching the recent Batman the Brave and the Bold episode Bat-Mite presents Batman's Strangest cases! I wanted to draw a Robin, because I find the Jiro Kuwata version of Robin to be really appealing. My version doesn't really reflect Kuwata's Robin, except for maybe the eyes. I did this in a hour and a half with tracing paper, a brush pen, and photoshop.
I am also toying with a fantasy series comic idea, here is one of the characters:

More to come hopefully!
